Abstract :
The germinating capacity of wheat was investigated in the presence of butyhted hydroxy toluene (BHT) with ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The influence of UV and BHT on the growth of wheat was evaluated by means of variability of chromosome of germinating root tip cell mitosis and activity of superoxide distamuse (SOD) of malt. The results show that the germinating capacity of wheat reaches 87% when the concentration of BHT is 0.15g/L and the time of UV radiation is 5min. It in creases by 20% comparing with the situation of no BHT and UV. As the radiation time is increased, the activity of SOD of malt decreases. However, the increment of concentration of BHT leads to the increase of the activity of SOD of malt. When the concentration arrives at 1.5g/L, activity of SOD of malt is the highest, which is 45U. UV causes variation of chromosome for root tip cell. BHT can prevent variation of chromosome of root tip cell of malt.
