Abstract
In this paper, a coplanar waveguide-fed bow-tie shaped meander slot antenna[1] mounted on an artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) is presented. It is demonstrated to improve the antenna´s gain to 9 dB at 17GHz and exhibit much wider impedance bandwidth with maintaining a thin antenna profile than the antenna without AMC. The manufactured prototype is characterized of return loss, gain, and radiation pattern measurements in an anechoic chamber. Experimental and numerical results show that the radiation characteristics and impedance matching are significantly improved when compared to conventional antenna with PEC reflector.
