Abstract
As fiber optics become the dominant physical medium for high-performance communication networks, several protocols have been suggested to exploit the advantages offered by this transmission medium. The Register Insertion Bus (RIB) access scheme has been demonstrated as a folded-bus topology network, similar to C-Net and D-Net. By exploiting the buffer scheme found in the Register Insertion Ring, RIB manages to reduce overhead which is present in a train-type protocol. In this paper we present an all-optical implementation for a RIB interface using control logic implemented by soliton-dragging gates
