  • Abstract
We propose a new VBR video traffic model, called the I-GAR model, which can characterize the gamma-distributed PDF of the MPEG frame size and the exponential decaying autocorrelation function. The study is based on factual data, so the result is more confidential. Because in real ATM networks, all the video sequence is multiplexed, and after multiplexing, the statistical property of these sequences is changed. So, we also study the multiplexed character of the I-GAR model. The loss rate simulation result indicates that there is not any clear difference between the I-GAR modeled data statistical characteristics and the real data, and we do not find any apparent cell loss rate reduction by increasing the buffer size
