Abstract :
This paper presents a new single-phase, pulse width modulated (PWM), boost-integrated ac-to-dc full-bridge series resonant converter with high frequency transformer isolation. This converter uses a new gating scheme suitable for integrating boost converter and PWM dc-to-dc converter using a single control. Principle of operation and different operating modes are presented with analysis. Based on the analysis design example of a 1.7 kW, 420 V, 50 kHz ac-to-dc series resonant converter is presented to explain design procedure. PSPICE simulation results for the designed converter are presented. The results show soft-switching operation and low total harmonic distortion of this converter for a reasonably wide range of line and load
