Abstract
In order to expand the application of ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna to the low observable platform, a novel UWB monopole antenna with low radar cross section (RCS) is proposed. The radiating patch is like the leaf to reduce RCS. A square slot in the ground and a fan-shaped slot in the top of the patch are notched respectively to enhance the impedance matching. The simulated -10 impedance bandwidth is from 2 to more than 15 GHz. The radiation patterns are very symmetrical and relatively stable. The RCS has obtained some reduction in most of the operating frequency band, the largest of which are 10.6 dBsm and 26.3 dBsm in two different incident cases, respectively while the largest gain loss is only about 1.4 dB.
