Abstract
Satellites Yamal-200 and Yamal-300 are developed to mate the system of fixed communications and TV broadcasting of the Russian Federation as a substitution of Horizont and Express satellites. This paper presents the key organizational aspects of the project, which are non-traditional in domestic practice. The project is being developed cooperatively by home enterprises headed by RSC Energia with the participation of leading forcing manufacturers NEC (Japan) and DASA (Germany). The state customers are RSA and Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC). The investor as well as prime contractor for the payloads is JSC Gascom. The Yamal satellites provide the United Communication Network (UCN) of RF, and service provision in the world market of satellite communications services. The principles of succession with the existing national “Horizont” and “Express” networks are mentioned, along with key features of the satellites, and main parameters of the payloads. In their manufacturing they use modern engineering solutions and parts, which allow us to achieve the same characteristics as the best foreign satellites. The service zones are shown, maximally adapted to RF territory to allow the provision of high-quality services. The paper contains the capacity characteristics and the list of services to be provided by Yamal satellites, the parameters of the communications and TV ground stations to support the mentioned traffic, and the key features of Yamal satellites in comparison with foreign analogues
