Abstract :
Diffraction radiation oscillator (DRO) devices are built around a semi-spherical or spherical cylindrical open resonator (OR) with one of the mirrors carrying a diffraction grating. A packetized 33-37 GHz DRO using an isochronous grating has been developed. The offered output power is 40 W and the efficiency is ∼8.76% at a voltage of 3.2 kV and electron current of 140 mA. The DRO weight, including the magnet system, is 5 kg.
