  • Abstract
    Taking account of the deficiency in whole body measurement and in the traditional segment measurement methods, a new trunk subdivision model is established and preliminary experiment is carried out. The trunk subdivision model avoids the undesirable effects from chest and abdomen on fat measurement. A measuring system based on the model is developed. The results of the fat distribution and content measurement experiments using trunk subdivision BIA is compared with the result of MSCT. The comparison result of two methods shows excellent correlation. The novel method is a good remedy to whole body measurement and the traditional segment method. It is an effective improvement in BIA.
