Abstract
This paper presents a design of dual-frequency antenna applied in GPS(1.575GHZ) and WLAN (2.45GHZ). The antenna bases on a structure of mutually nested inside and outside square patches. The inside smaller square patch operates at the high frequency and outside square patch operates at the low frequency. By slotting a rectangular slot in inside square patch, it reduces the high resonance frequency, then it realizes 1.55 times of the frequency ration. The outside patch realizes right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) through truncating equal corners. While inside patch truncates different sizes of corners to compensate the asymmetry of the current paths caused by the slot, then it can realize impedance matching at the high resonance frequency. The antenna has the advantage of high gain, miniaturization, and ease of manufacture.
