Abstract :
In this paper, the three-level main circuit of a voltage commutated inverter is analyzed in the case of a "DC shoot through" fault and an appropriate fuse is chosen to protect IGCTs against rupture. Possible fuse configuration in a voltage source inverter is also presented and the characteristics of different configurations are discussed respectively.
