Abstract :
Some basic study indicated that detecting insulator corona pulse current could be a way to inspect for the faulty insulator string in service. The basic principle of identifying the faulty insulators in the string will cause a high voltage drop across good insulators due to their low resistance, producing active corona discharges on good insulators. The further study was conducted in our laboratory to examine the measuring sensitivity of identifying the faulty insulator string by detecting insulator corona current
