Abstract
This paper presents a new approach for operation of an AC motor in electric vehicle due to fault occurrence in the motor drive system. By using the new topology after finding the fault type and rearranging the control method, the motor can operate with lower performance. This paper shows the electric vehicle performance in a faulty mode in comparison with its healthy one for a designed electric vehicle. A field oriented control method is used to control the induction motor in two modes of operation, the healthy and the faulty modes. The results show that with this control method, the electric vehicle is able to continue its operation with an acceptable performance.
