Abstract :
In this paper an expert system (ES) is developed for faulted section detection and protection scheme diagnosis. A short circuit calculation program is interfaced to the ES for strengthening the diagnosis capabilities. The developed ES is applied to study systems depicted from the Egypt Power Network (EPN). The ES makes estimations even in the case of multiple faults as well as malfunction and false operation of relays and circuit breakers
