Abstract :
The authors evaluated an algorithm present in the DDD pacemaker Chorus 6003 (Ela Medical) able to detect and treat the pacemaker-mediated tachycardia (PMT) and able to reprogram automatically some parameters to prevent new episodes of tachycardia. Ten patients were implanted with Chorus 6003 and submitted to 24-hour Holter monitoring to evaluate the algorithm performance. PMTs were revealed in 7/10 patients, and a total of 261 episodes were detected. All episodes were terminated, although 71 episodes were interrupted during detection and confirmation phases. In 3 patients closely coupled PMT episodes activated the autoreprogram function. In the study, the algorithm showed a high sensitivity and specificity
