Abstract :
For very dense packed circuits, problems occur with the space available for routing. With progressing routing this space becomes smaller and so a kind of saturation phenomena will disturb further routing. This physical idea leads to a phase transition theory of routing presented by the authors. The main result is that there exists a critical point beyond which no further routing is possible. The asymptotic saturation formulas are derived and a wirability criterion is derived, the validity of which is shown by comparison with experiments.<>
