Abstract
The design of a 450 sun concentrator module using both a primary and a secondary lens system is described. A square primary Fresnel lens size was arrived at through a study involving the optimum usage of material per embossing roller length that could be produced at 100 mW capacity per year at 3M Optics. In order to achieve a uniform flux density on the solar cell at a 370 sun concentration through a primary Fresnel lens, a total internal reflective secondary lens was chosen. A detailed set of projected performance parameters for this lens set/cell combination is also provided.
