Abstract :
Leaks from oil tanks result in not only an economic loss but, more importantly, contamination to soil and groundwater. Leak detection has received considerable interests from researchers in recent years. The traditional leak detection methods either have low sensitivity or unable to accurately determine the current location of oil leakage. In order to meet the requirements of real-time leak detection, sensitivity and accurate leak location, this paper proposed a design scheme of leak detection system for oil tanks based on the TraceTek controller and sensor cables. In this system, the principle method of Ohm´s law is used. The system hardware and software has been designed. Using standard Modbus RTU protocol, the communication between computer and TTSIM-1A controller is realized. Besides, schematic block diagram and flowchart of this system are provided. By analysis and processing of experimental raw data, in which system errors exist, a correction value is added onto the experiment value to coincide with measure ones.
