Abstract
This paper investigates the four different Pulse Width Modulation strategies and thoroughly analyses and evaluates the performance of VSI based inverter implementing the different modulation techniques. It is demonstrated by theoretical analysis and simulated results using MATLAB Simulink Tool. The inverter output voltage, total harmonic distortion of voltage output and common mode voltage in each case are studied and compared. The NSPWM method exhibits superior overall performance and commode voltage characteristics and THD is greater in SPWM modulated inverter.
