Abstract :
Microbial flocculants is a kind of metabolic products with flocculating activity being produced by microbes and secreted outside of cells, which is provided with characteristics as well as high-performance, non-toxic, no secondary pollution, being widely applied in the field of water treatment. Through summarizing the relevant domestic and overseas research literatures published in the recent years, this paper has made a summarization and conclusion on the types, characteristics, flocculation mechanism of microbial flocculants and its application in sewage treatment and sludge dewatering in details, and pointed out the problems existed in the research of microbial flocculants and proposed an expectation on the development trend in the future.
