Abstract :
The growing number of services now available through modern communication networks has increased the complexity of terminals. This is why it is important to simplify the man-machine interaction in order to allow an efficient use of terminal resources also by not-skilled persons. Another important point is to add an appropriate degree of intelligence to allow the automatic interaction between the unsupervised terminal and potential remote users. The possibility to have certain degree of autonomy without human intervention is an important point towards the development of intelligent machines. This paper presents the development of an intelligent system which use artificial intelligent techniques and it is capable of helping the operator during the execution of different operation. The systems is also capable of performing some unsupervised tasks. It uses a production rule kernel and pattern invoked programs to do whatever the user require also if the requests are done from a remote site. The kernel is explicitly designed to be easily coupled with a speech recognition systems
