Abstract
The three-phase voltage and current waveforms from an Power System (PS) are not considered pure sinusoids due to the presence of, among others, the harmonic distortion. This paper presents an approach based on Clonal Selection algorithm for the estimation of harmonic components. The Clonal Selection Algorithm (CLONALG) is a technique of search / optimization inspired by the theory of Clonal Selection. The technique uses an population of antibodies to search within a multi-dimensional space. The results demonstrate that the method can accurately identify the harmonic components in a distorted waveform, and are better than the results obtained by a classical technique (Discrete Fourier Transform).
