Abstract :
The paper concerns the use of attenuation measurements over microwave link networks to provide time-continuous rainfall distribution estimates, evidencing the fact that the communications networks infrastructure can be used, and also that where a higher density of such links is available, tomographic reconstruction of the rainfall fields and accurate area rainfall estimates are possible, complementing and/or integrating monitoring capabilities of weather radars and raingauges.
