  • Abstract
Experimental results on breakdown characteristics of transformer oil and deionized water in the microsecond and nanosecond regions under small gap are presented. The relationship of breakdown strength to the resistivity of deionized water, the shape of the electrodes, and the polarities of the applied voltage is obtained on the basis of a number of the test data. The breakdown strength as a function of the gap spacings under small gap is obtained
