Abstract :
This paper presents an approach for optimal power oscillation damping with SSSC. A two area power network has been modeled with SSSC in the linearized framework. An attempt has been made to design optimal power oscillation damping (OPOD) controller utilizing the model with eigen value assignment technique with a level of relative stability. A comprehensive study has been performed with a sample power system to demonstrate the effectiveness. The results obtained demonstrate the capability of the method proposed.
