Abstract :
We have proposed a compound hearing aid processing for the sensory hearing impaired previously. The processing is based on a speech analysis and synthesis model and enables its user to make use of a few kinds of hearing aid processing selectively or simultaneously according to his/her impairment level. At present, such a processing includes the spectral compression, the pitch conversion and the speech rate control. In this paper, we propose a new type of speech rate control (SRC) method and describe on three kinds of processing mode in the SRC: a global SRC mode (GS mode), a local SRC mode (LS mode), and a hybrid SRC mode (HS mode). By combining the proposed SRC with the compound hearing aid, it is expected that the compound hearing impaired with presbycusis can also use this hearing aid
