Abstract :
In this paper a novel fuzzy model-based approach is introduced to define the optimal ranges of the cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed, and depth of cut) for hypereutectic aluminum alloys with a diamond tool. This evaluation structure allows one to taking into account the blurred boundaries between the grades of the input parameters, and the expert knowledge can be built into the system by the rule base definition. This technique works with fuzzified parameters due to the uncertainty and the linguistic form descriptions of the variables, and it applies fuzzy logic-based decision model. In this way it makes the management of the system more user-friendly.
