Abstract :
The authors present a method for analyzing the concentration distribution of the noncondensable gas in a cylindrical gas-loaded heat pipe on the basis of two-dimensional convective diffusion. It is shown that the exact solution can be formulated as an infinite series, which, by truncation, lends itself to many possible levels of approximation for including the effects of radial diffusion. In particular, the solution given by F.F. Peterson and C.L. Tien (see ASME J. Heat Transfer (1989)) is shown to account for these effects at the lowest level of approximation
