  • Abstract
    A new family of single-phase four switches Z-source AC-AC converter are proposed, including voltage-fed and current-fed. Compared to the traditional ac-ac converters, they have unique features: providing a larger range of output ac voltage with buck-boost, reversing or maintaining phase angle, reducing in-rush and harmonic current. A new commutation strategy for single-phase four switches Z-source AC-AC converters is proposed to solve the commutation problem existing in AC-AC converters. Analysis, simulation and experimentation are given on the voltage-fed Z-source AC-AC converter. Experimental results verified the analysis.
