Abstract
In this paper, the configuration of wideband smart antennas are reviewed and compared. Three wideband beamforming algorithms, derived from fully spatial signal processing technique, are described. Two are based on rectangular arrays, and the other one is the well known Least-Mean Square (LMS) algorithm applied to circular array geometry. Employing the algorithms based on rectangular array, the weighting coefficients are real numbers, which in practice can be easily implemented by using attenuators or amplifiers in contrast with the complex weights obtained with the LMS algorithm.
