Abstract
An aperture-coupled microstrip antenna fed by an NRD (nonradiative dielectric) guide is analyzed by the modal expansion method. The unknown modal field expansion coefficients are determined using the Lorenz reciprocity theorem. After all relevant field components are found, the admittance of the slot is derived by applying the Poynting theorem to the slot volume. An expression is given for the input impedance of the NRD guide feeding the microstrip patch antenna.<>
