Abstract :
2,000 km SMF-28 transmission of a 10 Gb/s signal was achieved without using any dispersion compensation and optical/electronic equalization. The enabling technology was a single-sideband subcarrier-multiplexed optical transmitter using microwave duo-binary modulation in combination with narrowband tunable optical receivers.
