Abstract :
Two setups for the optical generation of broadband microwave signals are using double sideband (DSB) and single sideband (SSB) modulation. While DSB is easy to generate, the dispersion tolerance is severely limited. The penalties due to chromatic dispersion in both systems are tested for 10 Gbps data signals.
