Abstract :
The US Environmental Protection Agency regulations restricting the use and disposal of PCB transformers and PCB-contaminated electrical equipment have led owners to focus on determining if it is better to replace the PCB fluid in the transformer, or replace the transformer. The benefits and drawbacks associated with retrofit and retrofill options are discussed. Some examples of present-worth analysis of the various options are provided to help owners determine what combination of retrofit/retrofill would be most appropriate for the particular situation faced.<>
