Abstract
This paper presents a powerful framework for cDNA microarray spot localization. Following the multichannel nature of the cDNA image data, the framework allows the utilization of various scalar and vector edge operators to determine edges, discontinuities and structural elements, and generate edge maps of cDNA microarray images. It will be shown that vector edge operators, which utilize both the spectral and spatial characteristics of cDNA image, outperform well-known scalar edge detectors. In addition, built on robust theory order statistics, vector operators are more immune to the noise present in microarray images than common scalar operators
