Abstract
Four different types of frequency selective surfaces (FSS) with nonplanar elements are examined: tridipole, dipole-loop, triloop, and biloop. All were found to exhibit some degree of impact with the addition of the nonplanar element on the frequency and angular responses of the original planar structure, which was somewhat counterintuitive, but did not offer the flexibility of widening the angular response and/or augmenting the resonance behavior by introducing multiband capabilities.<>
