Abstract
This paper presents a method of multimedia data access speedup based on IP-SAN. The method introduces double I/O paths for multimedia data access system: the multicast parth transmitting shared data and the iSCSI parth transmitting iSCSI PDU. The method extends the definition of iSCSI protocol to interpret the multicast session announcement and introduces a transparent agent to monitor the loading of multimedia server and decide when to launch the multicast session. Test results show that, the method boosts the performance of parallel media data access.
