Abstract
The operation of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) on emergency generation can lead to problems of overheating of the generator due to the unbalanced operation of the UPS. It is pointed out that the design criteria of a UPS are inconsistent with the operation on isolated generation unless the two systems are designed to operate together
