Abstract :
Aiming at the shortcoming of median filter and some improved algorithms for removing salt and pepper noise, we propose an improved filtering algorithm to preserve image details in this paper. According to the different features between salt and pepper noise and image details, we get a noise marked matrix by extremum detecting and line detecting. Then the noise pixel´s value is determined by adjoin pixels related to the minimum of its 12 gradient values. The experimental results show that our proposed algorithm is better than median filter and some improved algorithms in preserving image details while filtering the noise.
