Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. The authors have investigated the possibility of manufacturing electrets from phillosilicates, which are a naturally occurring group of minerals. Such minerals are known to have large net negative charges within their crystalline structure, which under certain circumstances may express themselves as surface charges. Preliminary experiments with mica materials have shown considerable promise. The expected life of such electrets has been studied.<>
