Abstract
Software Defined Radio (SDR) has become a solution for development of wireless communication systems due to the benefits it provides. Most of the SDR platforms are implemented in FPGA because they are capable of supporting the signal processing of modern high speed wireless protocols. This paper presents the design of laboratory practices on the implementation of WirelessMAN-OFDM physical layer of IEEE 802.16d standard (WiMAX) using Xilinx System Generator and MATLAB / SIMULINK tools. We present the implementation in reconfigurable hardware modules developed in System Generator. These practices are designed with the purpose of contributing to student interaction with the elements of the physical layer of IEEE 802.16D WiMAX standard, and therefore to deepen their understanding about this technology.
