Abstract :
We tested the effects of time-varying magnetic fields (from 0.07 to 1.7 T) on the transient elevation of intracellular Ca2+ stimulated by bradykinin (BK) in bovine adrenal chromaffin cells. Addition of BK induced the transient increase in intracellular Ca2+ within few minutes, and then decreased. The magnetic field delayed and perfectly suppressed the increase in the absence of external Ca2+. The inhibitory effects were caused by exposure for only 15 minutes at 1.7 T of magnetic flux density. These results suggested that the magnetic field inhibits Ca2+ release from intracellular Ca2+ stores
