Abstract :
No single wireless network technology can satisfy all the user requirements. Thus, there is a urgent need to propose a single unified vertical handoff approach that integrates all disparate wireless technologies and enables mobile terminals to seamlessly roam between heterogeneous access networks. The classical approach for Vertical Handoff Decision Algorithm (VHDA) is based on Received Signal Strength (RSS). However, this paper aims to propose a multiple parameter based algorithm, where a Neuro-Fuzzy based supervised learning approach is used for tuning of the training vector. This paper discusses Fuzzy inference system which uses Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) of MATLAB in which triangular membership function and fuzzy based inference engine is used along with neural network for the weight adjustment. The approach shows the gain in throughput and reduced ping pong effect which inturn improves the overall QoS of heterogeneous networks.
