Abstract :
Each year as line and system loadings increase due to the energy request and more operating companies superimpose higher voltage transmission systems on existing facilities, the ultra high voltage power systems are coming more to the fore. Since the metal oxide surge arresters have an important role in the insulation coordination of the whole power system, in this paper the present development state and the different design criteria of the metal oxide surge arresters are taken into account for the ultra high voltage transmission lines of 1000 kV.
