Abstract
This paper presents a review of the transmission network planning issues currently in use as a consequence of the electric sector deregulation. Included is a review of the transmission planning process followed in many countries with deregulated electric sectors, as well as other issues, perhaps not directly related with network expansion, but with great influence on it, such as the remuneration transmission activity receives and the transmission tariffs.
