Abstract :
It is estimated that the automotive industry is growing at a rate of 20% every year. Automobiles are the driving entity of any economy, but as the industry is developing faster automobiles, this calls for an improvement in the safety features of the same. Even though some features such as Air-Bag system, Anti-Lock Braking system are present, a central system in an automobile has not been developed to monitor the entire status of the automobiles including features such as driver assistance and anti-collision avoidance system. In this paper, we introduce a novel FlexRay based embedded solution on which safety monitoring applications can be developed. The solution consists of design of a stable, optimized FlexRay Network and a low cost hardware platform for a Central Unit and Satellite sensor nodes.
