Abstract :
Modeling of heterogeneous traffics is of importance for analyzing network performance, since traffics in real networks are often aggregated from different types of sources so that they are heterogeneous. However, only homogeneous traffics are considered in previous investigation such as on/off model. Based on the statistical property of different traffics generated by on/off model, we propose a structural modeling of heterogeneous traffics, which manifests that the aggregated heterogeneous traffic is not the simple superposition of those different traffics and the degree of its "fractal" is dependent on the biggest fractional contribution of those heterogeneous streams. The homogeneous on/off model can be regarded as a special case of the proposed model. Simulations are performed to illustrate that the effectiveness of our model.
