Abstract
Although considerable research has been done on the use of synchronous rectification in PWM converters as a means of reducing conduction losses, relatively little research has been done on its use in resonant converters. This is in spite of the fact that resonant converters have several advantages over PWM converters such as lower switching losses and EMI. In the paper, the implementation of synchronous rectification in a PWM controlled, series-resonant converter with a capacitive output filter is investigated. The operation of the converter is discussed, and issues concerning the use of synchronous rectifiers in this particular converter are examined. The feasibility of using synchronous rectifiers is verified by computer simulation
