Abstract :
We study RSVP resource reservations in backbone networks when aggregation of reservations is used. We show that for guaranteed quality of service (QoS) flows aggregation does normally not reduce the resource requirements, but that aggregation of reservations with heterogeneous QoS requirements generally leads to aggregate reservation sizes that are higher than the sum of the individual reservations. We examine different aggregation strategies and show their influence on the aggregate reservation size
