Welcome message

The IEEE ISGT LA 2013 - Second Latin American Conference on Innovative Smart Grid Technologies, promoted by the IEEE Power and Energy Society and the IEEE South Brazil Section, was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The technical program brings together different themes and views of the smart grids, which brought academia, research centers, manufacturers, utilities and government agents to contribute to the discussion of important related issues, with the endorsement of a select Technical Committee. The various topics concerning the convergence of technologies that gather and identify the concept of smart grids will be treated individually and integrated, so that attendees can get acquainted and may participate in discussions about the corresponding developments in Latin America. Plenary and panel sessions were composed in order to discern trends of future developments on relevant smart grids topics, to promote fruitful discussions of the barriers and opportunities arising from the application of new technologies in electric power networks in Latin America and worldwide.
